IMPORTANCE OF BREATH

The process of breathing in and breathing out , although seems so natural, very few know the correct method of breathing.

The healthy manner in which one should breathe means, as the person breathes in , the stomach should expand and come out and as the person releases his breath his stomach should contract.

It is only a child who breathes correctly, but as we grow older we forget to breathe in a healthy manner. If you notice a new born or a  young child, the child seems to be breathing through his belly. His belly goes up and down as he breathes.

A person is grounded or is completely balanced only when his centre or the minds center in the  solar plexus area which is also  called as the “naabhi center”

Due to certain stress, emotions or ailments, sometimes the persons centre starts to shift out of the naabhi area and goes to some other area in his body.  Every person, at some time or the other, faces this shifting of his center. However, with correct breathing and meditation, the person can always stay balanced in his center.

BUDDHA AND OPENING OF THE THOUSAND PETALS CROWN CHAKRA.

When Gautama Buddha, became an enlightened soul, the thousand petaled lotus of his crown chakra opened up completely.

By simply focusing on his breath and the gaps in between his breaths and also by finding his center within his own body, he could enlighten himself.

Although these techniques were known to him, he never shared this with common people. The great Budhha knew that not everybody can be  prepared to be in the enlightened stage.

In the state of complete enlightenment if there is any desire or negative thought or emotion which is detrimental or harmful, by the power of Mind alone, the same thought may destructively manifest and  multiply manifold and this could not only destroy such a misguided enlightened soul, it may harm the society.

IMPORTANCE OF BREATHING IN RELEASING KARMA

Karma is disturbance in the energy field, due to the act of a human being.

In the animal stage there is no karma because the animals are devoid of knowledge unlike the humans. Hence killing a mosquito or killing animals does not account to karma.

However the human being has knowledge of what is pain, what is good or bad. In life’s journey, if a person, does anything which  takes away or tampers with the free will of another person, he creates karma for himself. The only way to balance this karma is to undergo a similar experience himself to be absolved of this karma and to set the equation correct.

When we are undergoing victimization or even as you become a victimizer, we forget to breathe correctly. Due to this the soul is not unable to correctly experience whatever, he is seeking  to experience. This creates a block or hinders the balance of the person. These blocks take manic proportions if they are not healed and  sometimes they even get carried forward into the persons another life

By  recounting experiences and by simply breathing through out the memory of the event or experience, these blocks get healed or released naturally .

Hence some people undergo life changing phenomenon while they breathe correctly under meditation of under hypnosis.

BREATHING UNDER HYPNOSIS

Under hypnosis, the therapist can guide his client or subject to focus on the problems or trauma areas and make the person breathe through the process. This acts like a cleanser and releases trapped emotions or blockages of past times. Sometimes as the person continues to breathe, in this manner, the person may also recount several similar instances, which may have added on to the problems before it became a habitual pattern to think in a negative or harmful or self-destructive manner.

BREATHING EXERCISES

CARE : ORDER/ SEQUENCE OF BREATHING EXERCISES

[C: Cleansing Breath; A: Alternate Breath; R: Rapid Breathing; E: Equal Breath]

Before every exercise, take a few deep breaths.  While breathing keep your spine straight, or erect and if you are comfortable, you may sit in the lotus pose (padmasana), or if you are sitting on a chair, keep your legs uncrossed at all times. Crossing your legs disturbs energy flow.

CLEANSING BREATH

Recount any painful experience or tiredness or simply breathe in the manner mentioned herein. You may use this breathing pattern several times through out the day.

Technique :

Breathe in from your nose for 3 counts or as you mentally count 1,2,3…slowly. And release your breath from your mouth for 3 counts or as you mentally count 1,2,3, maintaining the same tone or speed while you are mentally counting 1,2,3.

You may do this as many times as you like. However if the memories get more distressful, do not panic. Continue to breathe, till you feel every bit of the memory is erased out of your system.

ALTERNATE BREATH

This is a relaxing breath. You may do this before you sit or start your meditation. Also called as Anulom, vilom. This breath is practiced by different schools in different ways. Some start this breath from their left nostril , some from their right nostril, some practive kumbhak(holding the breath for some time) and similarly there are other variations too.

The technique mentioned herein below is what I have learnt from my Teachers Dr. Yuvraj Kapadia and Dr. Neeta Kapadia.

Technique :

Place your thumb on any one of your nostrils and start breathing from the other nostril mentally counting  of 1,2,3….

As soon as this is over, release your thumb from the other nostril and close the other nostril with the remaining fingers and release breathe (breathe out) from the other nostril,  to the mental count of 3,2,1…..

You may practice this breath 3 times and gradually increase it.

  RAPID BREATHING

This is an energizer breath, by practicing this, one gets instantly recharged or refilled with energy. Excellent breath for students during exams.

Technique :

Sitting in the lotus pose (padmasana) you may breathe in letting the breathe go deep down upto the pit of your stomach. Next forcefully breathe out bringing the breath completely out of your body.

Breathe in as you mentally say one and breathe out as you say two in the above manner (very rapidly).

Keep increasing the pace to do this breath as rapidly as you can.

If practiced correctly, this breath can lead to many spiritual experiences and the person may go in trance.

  EQUAL BREATHING

This is the breath which should be the correct manner in which you breathe always.

Technique :

As you breathe in the stomach comes out and as you breathe out the stomach goes inside.

Try to do this to a rhytymic mental count of 1,2,3 as you breathe in and 3,2,1 as you breathe out.

After some time you will notice you have started breathing as you used to when you were a child.
